#Summary
Computer crashes and freezing are not caused by applications - Modern operating systems run applications (such as seapro) at a restricted level that prevents them from doing this.
Instead if an application has a problem, it will be detected by the operating system and an error message displayed.
A computer crash is characterized by a blue screen appearing or everything freezing.
To check if your computer has frozen, try and start the Task manager by pressing the keys 'Ctrl', 'Alt' and 'Del' all at the same time. If you can't do this, then a serious error has occurred in the operating system or drivers and you will need to re-start the computer.
In the unlikely event that seaPro develops a problem, it will display a message such as 'seaPro 3000 has' or it may just stop responding with the message 'not responding' will appear in the title bar.
You should be able to start the Task manager (as above) and close the application- if you can't start the Task manager then this indicated a system problem.
Note: If seaPro is doing a long operation or the PC is busy (Virus scan etc) you may get the 'Not responding' message so wait at least a minute before assuming a problem.
Trouble shooting a 'blue screen' crash or a frozen computer:
This is not a seaPro problem and you will need to resolve the problem or contact the computer administrator - some hints are given below:
1. Most problems are caused by bad or incorrect device drivers, these are normally supplied by third parties to control devices such as graphic cards.
Ensure that you have the latest device drivers installed, don't just rely on the automatic Microsoft updates for these, visit the suppliers web site for later downloads.
If using Vista try and use the proper Vista drivers and not older XP ones that 'appear' to work.
2. Try switching off Hibernation or sleep mode, often drivers do not recover correctly
3. Check for bad USB sockets, bad connection to motherboard etc - these can often be the source of unexplained crashes.
